Terraria patch 1.1, Cave Story 3d and GBA games

Well! Hello again!

A bit has happened since my last post, I saw Puss in Boots with a friend and I went to a friend's Christmas party and got a couple of games. Puss in Boots was a good movie, I quite enjoyed it. The music was good and it had the same sort of jokes as the ones in Shrek.

Now game wise. I said in my previous post that I would talk about something Terraria related. Well, I'm not going to. Instead I'm going to tell you about my cat. Just kidding. The Terraria patch 1.1 came out recently which added four new armour sets, four new bosses and a whole lot of other content. The first boss out of the new bosses is relatively easy. It's called The Wall of Flesh and is summoned in hell by sacrificing your guide by throwing a Guide Voodoo doll into lava. This causes the Wall of Flesh to come from the nearest edge of the world. The first time I fought this boss with a friend we failed because the platform we had made in hell wasn't long enough.

Now, when you beat the boss it drops a Pwnhammer (which enables you to break demon alters to get cobalt, mythril and adamantite ore in your world) and other awesome goodies and it also turns your world into hard mode which gives you access to a lot of awesome stuff.

I have beaten all the new bosses which are The Twins, The Destroyer and Skeletron Prime. The Twins are a set of eyes, one spits out fire and the other shoots lasers. I learned from trial and error that you should kill the one that spits fire first and then the one that shoots lasers. The second boss, The Destroyer is basically a more powerful version of The Eater of worlds except instead of pieces of its body breaking up into mini destroyers like the eater of worlds, when a piece of the body breaks it sends out a little sphere that shoots lasers like destroyer itself.

Now the last boss Skeletron Prime is a lot like Skeletron except it has four arms instead of two. Two of the arms are ranged and two are melee. One of the ranged arms shoots lasers and the other shoots out bombs. did I mention that all the bosses like to fire lasers at you? They really like there lasers and I have to admit lasers are pretty cool. PEW! PEW! PEW!

Right enough about Terraria for now. As the title explains, I got Cave Story 3D and ten GBA games. The ten GBA games are Wario Land 4, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Yoshi's Island, Metroid Fusion, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Kirby and the magic mirror, Mario Kart Super Circuit, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, WarioWare Inc and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. I quite like the Fire Emblem game and Wario Land 4 is awesome as well as Metroid Fusion. I haven't played much of them but I will get around to completing them at some point but Nintendo chose a good selection of GBA games.

Now last but not least Cave Story 3D! I got it last Thursday and completed it a couple days ago. In commemoration of the feat I have decided to create a new section of my blog entirely for game reviews where I can rant about games all I want but there will probably be a few spoilers so don't read them unless you have completed the games or don't mind having them spoiled.

Well enough ranting for now. If I don't post again until after Christmas then Merry Christmas!

Cosplay Masquerade Ball and Zelda Skyward Sword.

Hello, sorry again for the long time between posts.

Right, quite a bit has happened since my last post, I went to a Cosplay Masquerade Ball and I got The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.

The Cosplay Masquerade Ball was amazing. I met so many awesome people there and had a great time dancing to the Macarena, The Time Warp and Carremeldansen with a whole bunch of crazy people like me. I got up on stage and embarrassed myself playing The Song of Time on my Ocarina.

It quite funny because I went as Link and one of my friends with the same name as me went as Red Link and it was quite funny when he told everyone that we were both Link and that we were both called Angus.

Overall it was quite a good night with everyone at the end singing the theme to Pokemon.

I got The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword on Wii on Thursday and I completed it yesterday. It was an amazing game, the story was very good and emotional. The music was awesome and the golden wiimote I got with the game is amazing because it's so friggen GOLDEN!!! It also came with a 25th Anniversary Special Orchestra CD which I am currently listening to and the music is really good. I quite like the Windwaker Medley and the Twilight Princess Medley but my most favourite piece of music on the cd has to be Gerudo Valley.

The controls in Skyward Sword weren't as good as I expected them to be but they were still pretty good. The only side quest in the game that annoyed me the most so much so that I didn't complete was the side quest where you have to play the harp with someone. You have to play it in time with the crowd's random flailage and it's incredibly hard to play it right.

But overall the game itself is probably one of the best Zelda games ever made. The story and the music are absolutely amazing and the final boss was so much fun, probably one of the most fun final bosses in Zelda I've ever faced, hell, probably one of the best final bosses ever.

Well, I should probably stop ranting about Skyward Sword in case I blurt out spoilers for people that want to play the game or haven't completed it yet. But as you can probably tell I really liked it.

On a completely unrelated note, archery is getting quite fun. I started out with a 16 pound re-curve bow and I've moved up to a 24 pound bow and I must say that it's a lot easier to fire arrows a further distance with the 24 pound bow.

Also, I have started to play Dungeons and Dragons. It's quite fun but I found out that my chosen class which is the Ranger is quite useless... I kept missing... a lot... but it's a lot of fun so I'm not complaining.

Another thing. Terraria patch 1.1 is out today! Woo! It really needed more content and with the patch it has gotten a whole crap load of content so my next post will probably involve something Terraria related. Talking about extra content, Magicka's expansion 'The Stars Are Left' based on HP lovecraft came out yesterday. I have yet to get it but it looks rather good and Magicka really needed extra content too because it was getting kinda boring.

Well that's enough ranting from me.

Farewell and I hope you all have a good day. :)

Holy, shit it's a blog post!

Hello!

Sorry for the long amount of time between blog posts but I have literally had nothing exciting happen in the past couple months. Like seriously. So, news... umm, well I got Star Fox 64 3D last month (I believe it was last month) but I prefer to call it Lylat Wars 3D since Lylat Wars was what my version of Star Fox 64 was called.

Oh also, according to my last post about Steins; Gate I had finished watching the last episode of it. Well, it turns out I was wrong. It wasn't the last episode, it just turned out to be kinda climactic. Turns out that there was about 2 or 3 episodes more and that there were only 24 episodes in the anime. It's still brilliant and you should still watch it.

Right, now back to the present, Lylat Wars 3D. It's a fairly good game, the graphics are amazing and it makes the game really pretty in terms of effects. It gives a whole new sense of realism to the game while at the same time looking the same and feeling the same as the original. The controls are obviously different to the original 64 game but for veterans it is quite easy to pick up and play just like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was.

I also got Borderlands recently as well. I've played Borderlands on ps3 and on computer now and I must say that I much prefer the computer version. I've completed the main storyline and the Claptrap's Revolution DLC but I have yet to complete Tartarus Station, and the zombie island of Doctor Ned. But man Claptrap's Revolution was fun, even though it was just like the rest of the game. The reason why it was more fun was simply because you finally got to shoot those damn annoying claptraps. I'm level 41 I believe and so far it is quite an enjoyable game. I look forward to playing Borderlands 2 when it comes out.

Anyway enough about games. I've been doing ok recently, just been grinding every day. Just going from one day to the next doing pretty much the same thing... a bit boring yes. but the past couple of weeks have been pretty good. I made up with my Ex (I hope) so we're now friends again, I went to a Candle Festival and tried Sake, saw my old Japanese teacher on Thursday and I was going to see The Three Musketeers in the movies with a friend but my friend didn't turn up.

and then yesterday I went to a friend's place and checked out his Arcade machine that has over 1,000 retro games on it. so me and a friend played Metal Slug 2. I got the High Score on Asteroids and got to the last Alien in Space Invaders in the first wave. I then got my arse kicked at pool 3 times out of 3... I really suck at Pool.

The Candle Festival was pretty cool. For those who don't know it, it's the Nara Candle Festival in Canberra that takes place once a year and they light over 2,000 candles in celebration of the relationship between the city of Nara in Japan and Canberra. The Entertainment was good, The food was good... mmm... Okonomiyaki.... dammit now I want some and the Sake was good. It tasted a bit like Cough Medicine mixed with alcohol if you ask me.

And that is the past two months in a nutshell pretty much.

'Til next post!

Steins; Gate

Just finished watching the last episode of series 1 of Steins; Gate... It was awesome.
It's a really good anime about time travel and I just can't explain how awesome it is.
The last episode only came out yesterday so I will probably have to wait a while before series 2 which makes me sadface but I guess that's a good thing because it gives me something to look forward to.

I won't post anymore about Steins; Gate just in-case I spoil it for you.
So if you like Sci-Fi and in particular time travel then this is a show for you.
I demand you to watch it! If you don't then I will um... shout at you?
I won't actually do that... I will just keep annoying you until watch it.

And if I don't know you then I can't really make you watch it, but you should anyway because I say so and because it's awesome.

anyway, that is enough ranting from me.
Goodbye!

P.S you should watch it.
P.P.S you should definitely watch it.
P.P.P.S you must watch it!
P.P.P.P.S The cake is a lie!

Heartbroken

Hello, sorry for the huuuuge gap in posts but I have literally had nothing interesting go on in the past month of my life except for the past week or so so I am going to talk about that. I also couldn't really think of a title so I decided to name it after what I have felt for the past few days.

I would have made this post earlier on in the week but I wasn't really in the mood.
As you can tell from the title I am feeling a bit heartbroken at the moment because my girlfriend decided to break up with me on Tuesday. I do not actually know the reason as to why yet but I guess that I will find out in due time. We had been going out for about four months and two weeks. I'm getting over it slowly but surely but I am still a bit sad about it. I guess the good thing though is that we have decided to remain friends because I would hate to lose her forever.

I would say more on this subject but at the moment it's too painful to talk about.

So! Subject change to keep my mind away from such saddening things. There have been a couple of pretty good things happen in the past week or so. I did some Archery on Sunday and I enjoyed it immensely. It was quite fun and I tired myself out by cycling there, doing some Archery and then cycling home again and for doing that I was called a Looney. I also got offered a job trial at Kingsley's. The job trial was supposed to be on Monday but I was sick so I had to get it postponed which reminds me that I need to contact them so that they can tell me when the job trial shall be.

let's see what else happened... I had a rather fun LOTR marathon last Saturday and I also got Deus Ex off a friend on that day.

I think that's all for now, I shall probably talk more about Deus Ex later on once I get further in the game because at the moment I'm only up to second level. I have also been playing a game called 'Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective' which I shall also talk to you about some other time.

so long for now.

THIS IS HYRULE!!!!

Well, as you all know I said I would be getting Ocarina of Time 3DS on the Monday just gone.

I did and it is a fantastic remake. The graphics have improved but then again I've never been obsessed about graphics so yeah. The 3D is fantastic, especially with the lens flare (I believe that's what it's called) that you get from the sun in the morning/evening it adds a lot of depth to the game which I think adds to the whole experience.

Having played the original many times I have memorized quite a bit of the game so it was easier to complete the storyline. I have not fully completed it yet though as in gotten all the heart pieces etc. I have promised myself though that I will not play Master Quest until I fully complete the original. so far I have 16 hearts and 1 piece of heart and I think around 53 gold skulltulas. So yeah I've still got a fair way to go before I get everything but there is no rush.

for those interested I found a glitch that enabled you to use the Master Sword as Young Link. It's quite a simple glitch, in fact it is such a simple glitch that makes me wonder how the hell it's even in the game. Right to do this glitch you must have the Master Sword or the Big Goron Sword equipped. then you swing whichever sword you equipped just so it registers as the last sword used. Then what you do is you summon Epona and then you ride her, well you just climb onto her. then you save and quit. You then start a new save file (name doesn't matter) you watch all the boring intro stuff and then when you go outside as Young Link you just press B as if you have a sword and instead of the usual which is for nothing to happen, Young Link swings a model that looks like the Master Sword.

This "Master Sword" has the same range as the kokiri sword but does the same damage as the sword you used for this glitch. I tried it with the Big Goron Sword but it doesn't seem to do the same damage as the Big Goron Sword it seems to do only kokiri sword damage. Oh well I might try with the Master Sword later on to see if it does Master Sword damage.

The game was easier than I remember it being but then again I've pretty much only played the first 3 dungeons over and over since I completed it as a kid so only the temples seemed easier than I remember. The only boss I used a fairy on in the entire game was Bongo Bongo. Damn I hate his grab attack.

Anyway, this is probably enough Zelda ranting for now. I will probably make some more in the near future. Oh I almost forgot to mention that I got an Ocarina with my game and I have been annoying my family and friends with it ever since I got it. I apologize to them and my lovely girlfriend for the horrible racket I make with it but you will have to endure it until I get good at it.

This is all from me for now. Also, if any of you have made hard to beat Boss Times in the Boss mode in OoT 3d  please let me know and I will try and beat them.

P.S I was going to post this last night but dad cut the net so I will probably make a new post today as well

Thursday 23 June 2011

Random long title because I can't think of one.

Wellity well a lot has happened over the past week since I made my last post, well ok maybe not a lot but quite a bit.

lets see... I completed The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on my 3DS, I bummed around at home and I went to tuggeranong the day before yesterday to see my girlfriend and go job hunting.

Even though I claim to have completed Zelda I am still missing four pieces of heart (one heart container), the Arrow capacity upgrade and the level 2 sword. I might get them within the next week.

Talking about Zelda, Ocarina of Time 3DS is coming out in one week and I AM SO EXCITED!!! Quite a lot of my friends have been skeptical about Zelda Ocarina of Time saying that it's just another pointless remake and I agree with them somewhat but then again Zelda will be basically the only decent game on the 3DS for quite some time. I was also contemplating whether to go to the release of Ocarina of Time as Link what do you think?

I was also supposed to be getting both Deus Ex and Fire Emblem: Radiant dawn at the weekend but I forgot to invite the friend with Fire Emblem until a couple days before the weekend at which point he had already made plans. oh well.

My friend who was meant to be coming over on Sunday and lending me Deus Ex couldn't make it because his parents made plans again without letting him know until last minute. It kinda annoys me that he couldn't come because this has happened about at least 10-15 times now. ah well stuff happens, there's always another time for him to come over.

It was good seeing my girlfriend on Tuesday. I missed her and her hugs since she had gone to Supanova in Sydney for the weekend. She cosplayed as Yui from K-on I think. I didn't go because of lack of money and job (why do jobs have to be so hard to find or at least not get rejected for? AAAAARGH!). From what I know she got a couple of pins for her bag one was Edward Elric and the other was Alphonse (Al) Elric both from FMA AKA Full Metal Alchemist and I approve of them because they are awesome. She also got a Hetalia figurine and some DVDs of a series called Nana I believe.

Also on Tuesday there was a bird in the Lake Tuggeranong College common room which I managed to use my epic (not really) skills to catch it and set it free. It was very tiring since the bird flew around a lot and managed to dodge my attempts to catch it in my coat but eventually after a few minutes of the bird flying into windows a lot I managed to grab it, but then it managed to worm its way out of my coat and escape again. After that though the bird was tired enough for me to catch it and set it free.

So yes I believe that was the past week in a nutshell. I apologize for it being such a big post since a lot did happen but I promise I will post more often and post smaller amounts just so it doesn't get jammed into one big post like this.

anywhoo that's all from me for now goodbye! さよăȘら!

P.S I'm going to post some things in Japanese from now on because I feel like it and because I can. I will also have the English for it written so don't worry.

Video Game Rant.

Well I had a relatively good day today. I applied for a job, got to see my lovely girlfriend, got owned in a Pokemon battle by a level 12 Wartortle and then came home with a friend and spent the afternoon looking up video game trailers. I also beat the second dungeon in Link's Awakening. My god how I hate that clown boss even though I did manage to beat him first try without dying once.

I am now currently listening to random orchestrated versions of Phoenix Wright themes. It makes me want to play Phoenix Wright again, but I can wait until I get my R4 back. I rather like Phoenix Wright, it's a really good game. The music in the game is brilliant; really capturing the moments and somehow makes a game about court fun.

On another note I am really excited about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming out on 3DS on the 30th of June. Such a good game. I can't wait to try the Master Quest mode having not played Master Quest when it was released with Zelda: Wind Waker. It will also have a Boss Mode where you just fight the bosses one after the other I presume.

I'm also looking forward to Cavestory 3D. For those who don't know about Cavestory look it up. It is an Ingenious game. It is a classic side-scrolling platformer/shooting game think of games like Metroid Fusion and Super Metroid and Megaman. Anyway I expect it to be good since it is just like the original only with 3D graphics.

But yes, enough of video game ranting at the moment I'm just really excited about what's coming out. Expect more rants to come when Ocarina of Time is actually out and when I get excited about other games coming out such as Lylat Wars 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Luigi's Mansion 2.

P.S I can't wait to play Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn again when I borrow it off a friend. I'm also borrowing Deus Ex to see what that's like since the new one is coming out relatively soon i think.

The crazy man who lives down under

Hi! for those who don't know me I am Sarakthor a resident of a strange mythical place called Down Under. I wasn't however born in this crazy upside-down place, I was born in small village in the south east of England in a county called East Sussex. You might call me a stereo-typical Brit meaning that I have bad teeth, wear glasses and I like tea.

I don't however say those weird phrases such as "Freshen your tea Guv'na?" well, I might occasionally if i am joking around. I don't really sound very English or so I think having lived in The Land Down Under for six years and Ireland for four and a half.

Hmm, what do I like you ask? well I shall answer that question now.

1. Video/Computer games. My most favourite video game series has to be Zelda. You just can't beat it in terms of awesomeness.
2. Anime/Manga. I don't read Manga as much as I watch Anime but still like to read it from time to time. I'm not really a fan of western style comics.
3. Japanese culture/language. I have studied Japanese for about three years but the first year doesn't really count since I didn't learn anything.
4. World of Warcraft/ other MMOs i have a level 83 Blood elf DK on silvermoon and a level 73 Night elf Druid on Gundrak known to the server's population as FunDrak. But recently I have been getting into RIFT.

Hmm, not sure what else I like, well I suppose I like browsing the net a lot, you can find me on facebook most of the day due to lack of job and having finished school.

Anyway congrats if you have read this far, this is it from me for the moment.
